BRIEF:

The approved project program desired new offices be added to the old, structurally disturbed, 3-story existing building. The proposed scheme was to add 3-story L-shape, open plan, office expansion embracing the existing building from its south-east corner. Lifted up the parking, surrounding the existing building, not only challenged the look of maintaining available limited parking spaces at the sites, but helped in having an independent structure for the new building.

A new entrance lobby with elevators proposed at north-east corner, allowing a smooth flow between old and proposed building spaces. Two proposed bridges are made to link new building by old, with void space between them left as natural light and utility shaft. The main building elevation was developed with values, proportions and elements of local traditional architecture. Thus, linking the building by the approved urban design study guidelines made for the remodeling of the nearby city down town. Our office was the design consultant for both projects.
